History - Travelling through time
Late in the 80s, the members of the Cologne based band BAP had the idea of opening a new event venue. Not only any venue but one which would be versatile, which was able to be a concert hall, disco and ballroom. In 1991, the BAP musicians eventually established, together with partners from the Cologne entertainment scene, E-Werk in Cologne-Mülheim.
In 1997, another venue opened to the public, which is located right opposite: the machine production hall of Trefil Europe Engineering, which had been established in 1899, became Palladium with a useful space of 3,679 sq.m. Added to the responsibilities for E-Werk, this was reason enough to establish Köln Event Veranstaltungsgesellschaft mbH – a concept which soon proved its value. Right in the heart of Cologne's new media centre, E-Werk and Palladium offer you a wide selection of rooms that can be flexibly adapted to meet your needs – for enjoyable events that make a lasting impression.
Since 1991, E-Werk has been accommodating the famous "Stunksitzung" carnival session. Each year, 45,000 carnival revellers together with a group of regular actors and musicians celebrate an alternative carnival, a blend of cabaret, comedy and carnival, rock music and nonsense, as fringe events to the main activities of official carnival.
